In His Writings, Baha'u'llah addresses William I, the newly acclaimed emperor of a unified Germany, and tells him to hearken unto His Voice, the Voice of God, Himself. Baha'u'llah bids William to remember Napoleon, the one who cast the Tablet of God behind him, and to think deeply about the end that he suffered:
