The Genesis account uses the symbolism of the ancient flood story to demonstrate spiritual truths. An evaluation based solely on the relationship of the symbols to actual ancient historical floods, or on an explanation of how the symbol originated, is secondary to the account's message. The truth of the account does not rest upon the occurrence of a literal flood but on the internal evidence of our personal moral lives and our acceptance of God's teachings. (150:1)

The flood story is a beautiful example of how the Prophets and authors of the Scriptures conveyed their inspiration. Even as God is symbolically described as forming man from clay and breathing into his nostrils the breath of life (Gen. 2:7), God breathed life into the words and accounts used in the Scriptures through the inspiration given to the writers of the Bible. (150:2)

THE DAY OF JUDGEMENT-- 42)Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.-- 43)But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch (150:3)
