The writings of Baha'u'llah indicate that every Messenger of God has been invested with all the attributes of God such as sovereignty and dominion (Certitude 104). This divine sovereignty signifies their Lordship over their dominion, which encompasses the hearts of the believers. This dominion can be understood as the Kingdom of God that is established and renewed in every age when a divinely-appointed Messenger of God appears. Hence, for example, 'Abdu'l-Baha states: (192:2)

When Christ appeared He manifested Himself at Jerusalem. He called men to the Kingdom of God, He invited them to Eternal life and He told them to acquire human perfections. The Light of Guidance was shed forth by that radiant Star, and He at length gave His life in sacrifice for humanity. (Paris Talks 116-17) (192:3)

Similarly, in another talk, 'Abdu'l-Baha stated:-- Through His death and teachings we have entered into His Kingdom. His essential teaching was the unity of mankind and the attainment of supreme human virtues through love. He came to establish the Kingdom of peace and everlasting life. (Promulgation 5-6) (192:4)

And again, He stated, 'His word conquered the East and the West. His Kingdom is everlasting' (Paris Talks 56). 'Abdu'l-Baha explains that:-- Jesus Christ came to teach the people of the world this heavenly civilization and not material civilization. He breathed the breath of the Holy Spirit into the body of the world and established an illumined civilization. Among the principles of divine civilization He came to proclaim is the Most Great Peace of mankind. (Promulgation 11) (192:5)
