..(24:3) The Setting: The Mount of Olives-- Perhaps the disciples were too surprised by Jesus' words to ask Him questions while they were still standing near the Temple. Perhaps they did not want to risk being overheard. Matthew doesn't say why, but he does relate that they did enquire about this prophecy later when they were upon the Mount of Olives. (40:2) The Mount of Olives is a hill east of the old city walls of Jerusalem. In those days one could walk from the site of the Temple, which is within the city walls, out of the Golden Gate
