DANIEL AND THE COMING DESOLATION-- 15) When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) (63:1)

..(24:15) Jesus' Reference to the Book of Daniel-- Of all Jesus' prophecies, no verse has received so much attention or sparked such controversy as this one. Christ refers to a time when it will be possible to see what He calls 'the abomination of desolation', standing 'in the holy place'. He also states that this was 'spoken of by Daniel the prophet'. In order to understand what is intended by 'the abomination of desolation', we will therefore need to refer to the Book of the Prophet Daniel. By making this brief reference to the prophecies of Daniel, Jesus enormously expands the scope of His message and confronts us with the difficulty of understanding the Book of Daniel - not an easy task, especially for the modern reader who is unfamiliar with the ancient terminology and symbolism which appear in Daniel's visions. (63:2)
