It seems only logical that periods of time provided in the prophetic vision of the Scripture would and should be based only on the information provided for the believer in the same Scripture. It is this same information, provided by the writers of the Gospel, that suggests that the date of Jesus' crucifixion and ascension correspond to the end of the 490 years mentioned in Daniel's vision. (75:2) These dates, however, may not intend the exact dates afforded by the Gregorian calendar. 'Abdu'l-Baha states that Jesus was crucified and ascended at the age of 33, not in the year 33 of the Gregorian calendar. When 'Abdu'l-Baha calculates the year 1844, He counts 456 years from 457BC to the birth of Christ, which leaves 34 years out of 490 years mentioned by Daniel. This means that according to 'Abdu'l-Baha's interpretation of Daniel, Jesus was crucified and ascended around AD 33-4.
