What they failed to realize are two rather obvious points: (l) It is when religion is corrupted that God sends Prophets and Messengers. (2) The Book of Revelation states clearly that God will send 'two witnesses' who will prophesy for 1,260 years. This means the two witnesses will appear at the beginning of the 1,260 year period. The Christian scholars were right in realizing that Christianity was being corrupted and that the period of 1,260 years must, therefore, have begun around the time its corruption began. But they did not discern that when that period began, the two witnesses, Muhammad and 'Ali, who arose like Moses and Joshua, had set out to restore the Faith of God and to give light to the people during that period - even as the Bible had prophesied!
