The warm-hearted person, the man of kindliness and concern for others, will show it in generosity and charity. A sign of spiritual maturity is the degree to which we are attached to the well being of others rather than to our own material possessions. (68:3)

"Blessed is he who prefers his brother before himself: such a one is of the people of Baha." (Baha'u'llah) (68:4)

"The poor in your midst are My trust; guard ye My trust, and be not intent only on your own ease." (Baha'u'llah) (68:5)

"They who are possessed of riches, however, must have the utmost regard for the poor, for great is the honour destined by God for those poor who are steadfast in patience... and well is it with the rich who bestow their riches on the needy and prefer them before themselves." (Baha'u'llah) (68:6)

"Ye must not only have kind and merciful feelings for mankind, but ye should also exercise the utmost kindness toward every living creature. The physical sensibilities and instincts are common to animal and man. Man is, however, negligent of this reality and imagines that sensibility is peculiar to mankind, therefore he practices cruelty to the animal. In reality what difference is there in physical sensation! Sensibility is the same whether you harm man or animal: there is no difference.." ('Abdul-Baha) (68:8)
