All things are known by the qualities that are appropriate to their realities. To study the qualities of a person's life we can examine two broad categories: actions and words, or, in the case of a Prophet, His life-- those things that He does-- and His teachings-- those things He says or writes. Thus, we will examining Baha'u'llah's life and teachings to find the qualities we will use as evidence to determine the truth of His claims. (101:2)

This approach is suggested by Baha'u'llah when He defined what constitutes the evidence, or testimony, that establish the truth of a Manifestation: (101:3)

The first and foremost testimony establishing His truth is His own Self. Next to this testimony is His Revelation. For whoso faileth to recognize either the one or the other He hath established the words He hath revealed as proof of His reality and truth. This is, and evidence of His tender mercy unto men. He hat endowed every soul with the capacity to recognize the signs of God. (gwb 105-6) (101:4)
