Obviously, it is preferable to rest our faith on the most solid ground. Abdul-Baha points out that it is not possible to consider events that none of us are able to witness personally as incontrovertible proof. We are unable to prove that the miracles recorded in the Holy Text are actual instances of the contravention of the laws of nature and not symbolic accounts written to convey spiritual truths. Furthermore, even if we accept these miracles as proof, how do we distinguish them from the miracles attributed to other persons?.. (see saq chs 10 and 22)
