As shown in the chapter on Heaven and Hell, these are not places, with a devil in charge of evil at one end, and a God in charge of good at the other. This would be a duality of authority, and would mean that the oneness and infinity of God would be destroyed. This would be contrary to science and reason. It is necessary to understand these truths symbolically. (107:1)
