Fulfillment (40:7) When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: (40:8) That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses. (mat 8:16-17) (40:9) see Commentary (40:10) Although it remained hidden until after the coming of Christ, Isaiah here foretells both the suffering of Christ and His healing ministry - both recognized now as signs of His glory (40:11) Speaking in the past tense, once again, it offered no help in predicting how the Christ would come. It could not have been recognized as a prophecy pointing to the Messiah, nor could it have led one to recognize Him
