Understanding Prophecy - 1st Coming of Christ - David Yamartino - 13 Para

I Will Open My Mouth in A Parable (44:1)

Verse from Old Testament (44:2)

I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old: (psa 78:2) (44:3) see

Predictions (44:4)

The speaker of these words seems to be saying that he will speak in parables and reveal hidden things of old (44:5)

What a seeker reading this verse might predict is that, God willing, the author of these words would at some time proceed to fulfill his promise and speak in parables of hidden things of old (44:6)

Besides this, I cannot see or understand anything more from this verse (44:7)

Fulfillment (44:8)

All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them: (44:9)

That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world. (mat 13:34-35) (44:10) see

Commentary (44:11)

Matthew here explains that this verse from the Psalms was not merely meant as the voice of the writer, but referred to the Messiah Himself (44:12)

Who could have known? (44:13)
