Chapter 23 of  60

Thus saith the Lord, In an acceptable time have I heard thee, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee: and I will preserve thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, to establish the earth, to cause to inherit the desolate heritages; (23:35)

That thou mayest say to the prisoners, Go forth; to them that are in darkness, Shew yourselves. They shall feed in the ways, and their pastures shall be in all high places (23:36)

They shall not hunger nor thirst; neither shall the heat nor sun smite them: for he that hath mercy on them shall lead them, even by the springs of water shall he guide them. (isa 49:7-10) (23:37) see

I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting. (isa 50:6) (23:38) see

See, my servant will act wisely; he will be raised and lifted up and highly exalted (23:39)

Just as there were many who were appalled at him-his appearance was so disfigured beyond that of any man and his form marred beyond human likeness (23:40)

So will he sprinkle many nations, and kings will shut their mouths because of him. For what they were not told, they will see, and what they have not heard, they will understand. (isa 52:13-15 (NIV)*isa*52:13-52:15 (23:41)

Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed? (23:42)

For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him (23:43)

He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not (23:44)

Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted (23:45)

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed (23:46)

All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all (23:47)

He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth (23:48)

He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken (23:49)

And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth (23:50)

Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand (23:51)

He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities (23:52)

Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death; and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors. (isa 53) (23:53) see

Behold, I have given him for a witness to the people, a leader and commander to the people (23:54)

Behold, thou shalt call a nation that thou knowest not, and nations that knew not thee shall run unto thee because of the Lord thy God, and for the Holy One of Israel; for he hath glorified thee. (isa 55:4-5) (23:55) see

And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him. (isa 59:16) (23:56) see

And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the Lord. (isa 59:20) (23:57) see

And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising. (isa 60:3) (23:58) see

The spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; (23:59)

To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; (23:60)

To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified. (isa 61:1-3) (23:61) see

Behold, the Lord hath proclaimed unto the end of the world, Say ye to the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy salvation cometh; behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him. (isa 62:11) (23:62) see

Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, traveling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save. (isa 63:1) (23:63) see

I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment. (isa 63:3) (23:64) see

For he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their Saviour (23:65)

In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old. (isa 63:8-9) (23:66) see
