The term `Prophet' is applied first in the Bible to Abraham (gen 20:7), but Moses is considered by many Christians to be the prototype of a Prophet of God.. Some of characteristics are:.. called directly by God (exo 3), taught the knowledge of God (exo 3:15), legislated to the people (deu 6:25), and possessed a prophetic awareness of history (exo 6). Such characteristics are generally typical of the Prophets who came after Moses, such as Isaiah, Jeremiah and Zechariah.
