The teachings of the Bahá'í Faith say: The resurrections of the [Messengers of God] are not of the body ...Their parables, and Their instructions have a spiritual and divine signification, and have no connection with material things.1 (100:4)

In the Gospel of John it says
And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.2 (100:5)

Again in John it is written:
For I came down from heaven ...3 (100:6)

Christ says in these verses that He, the Son of man, is in heaven at the time while He, Christ, is on earth. He also says that he came down from heaven, though physically it is known that He came from the womb of Mary and that His physical body was born of Mary. (100:7)

Is it any wonder that the people could not understand these verses? We can appreciate their bewilderment, as expressed in John: (100:8)

And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven?4 (100:9)
