Shoghi Effendi, on the other hand, does write of an actual earthquake occurring after the Bab's martyrdom:-- Nor was this all. The very moment the shots were fired a gale of exceptional violence arose and swept over the city. From noon till night a whirlwind of dust obscured the light of the sun, and blinded the eyes of the people. In Shiraz an 'earthquake', foreshadowed in no less weighty a Book than the Revelation of St John [Rev. 11:13], (169:1) Shoghi Effendi not only speaks of an earthquake but provides a date -1268 AH
(169:2)
