APPENDIX III-- THE SEVENTH-DAY-- Apart from the day/year interpretation of such verses as Daniel 8:14 and Revelation 11:3, there also existed a day/thousand-year equation that was applied to the seven-day creation account in the Book of Genesis and which presented a millennial prophecy. The origins of this allegorical (or typological) understanding appear to go back to pre-Christian times. For example, in the late nineteenth century, several Slavonic recensions of an interesting and long-misplaced book, The Secrets of Enoch, (186:1) And I appointed the eighth day also, that the eighth day should be the first-created after my work, and that the first seven revolve in the form of the seventh thousand, and that at the beginning of the eighth thousand there should be a time of not-counting, endless, with neither years nor months nor weeks nor days nor hours.
