It is reasonable to assume that His statement 'To this testify the records of the sacred books' cannot mean the Qur'an or the Bible. Rather, the 'sacred books' most simply mean religious books, as distinguished from secular books. (200:1)

Baha'u'llah does not state why a lengthy consideration of such records would be 'a grave mistake and a grievous transgression'. However, since His explanation is Revelation from God, it stands on its own spiritual merits. It is not a secular book and, hence, it would not be appropriate to rest its testimony on the extensive use of supporting secular evidence. These explanations are given because of His affection for us, not because God's Word stands in need of scholarly documentation. (200:2)
