Jesus states that because 'iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold'. This may mean that, because some followers apostatize and others are led away by false prophets, many faithful believers are torn away from the spiritual guidance of the Gospel. This causes iniquity to abound, which in turn leads to the loss of love among many. The consequences of this can be seen in the violence that occurred among Christians and between Christian nations. (54:1) Despite all this persecution, sectarian strife, deception and hatred, Christ assures us that 'he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved' (Matt. 24:13).
