Appearances after the Resurrection (107:0)

List of Jesus' Appearances (included Paul): And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. (1co 15:5-8) [Earliest recounting of the Resurrection in the Bible. Notice that Paul included himself in the list, but Paul never met Jesus until years later in his Vision on the Road to Damascus - see next quote (js)] (107:1) see

A Heavenly Vision: I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them which journeyed with me. And.. I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?.. Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision: (act 26:13-19) [Since Jesus appeared to Paul in a "heavenly vision", why should we think that the other appearances were any different? (js)] (107:2) see

Mary thought he was the Gardener: "Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.. Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father.." (joh 20:15-17) [Although Mary Magdalene had been a member if Jesus' inner-circle for years, she didn't recognize His Celestial Body in a Heavenly Vision (js)] (107:3) see

Women saw Angels: And when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said that he was alive. (luk 24:23) [Paul saw Jesus as a "vision" and the women at the tomb saw Angels as a "vision" (js)] (107:4) see

Did not first recognize Jesus-who then vanished: And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight. (luk 24:31) [physical bodies can't vanish (js)] (107:5) see

Jesus appeared behind locked doors: Then the same day at evening, being the first [day] of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace [be] unto you. (joh 20:19) [physical bodies can't suddenly appear inside a locked room (js)] (107:6) see

Jesus appeared in another form: After that he appeared in another form unto two of them, as they walked, and went into the country. (mrk 16:12) [This "other form" would explain the sudden appearances, disappearances and why He was not immediately recognized."Other forms" seem completely Real. When Moses and Elias appeared with Jesus on a high mountain they seemed so real that Peter asked Jesus if they should build a shelter for them. This, of course, was not necessary, for Jesus later explained that it was a "Vision". (mat 17:1-4, 9)] (107:7) see

No flesh & bones: But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts? Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. (luk 24:36-39) [Jesus quickly reassured them that He was not a Spirit, but His "other form" or "Celestial Body" was experienced as being completely physical, as were the bodies of Moses' and Elias' during Jesus' transfiguration on the high mountain -ed] (107:8) see
