Basis for Christian Belief: "For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air." (1th 4:16-17) (17:1) see

Below are four other scenarios in the Bible for the 2nd coming of Christ. They are all true, and they are all symbolic of the actual events: (17:2)

Scenario 1. "The stars fall from heaven.. 'then' all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds" (mat 24:29-31). [this predicts a different sequence of events where the stars fall prior to Christ's return. - see 'World Redeemer/Christian Fears and Concerns/Every Eye Shall See Him'] (17:3) see

Scenario 2. Revelation chapters 20 & 21 detail yet another different set of events - with a first resurrection of Christian martyrs, followed by a second resurrection of all other Christians and the remaining dead on earth 1, 000 years later (17:4)

Scenario 3. Christians will be left on earth and Christ will come with a new name. "For if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart I will send Him to you." (joh 16:7) "And I will write upon him My new name.." (rev 3:12) "Howbeit when He the Spirit of Truth is come, he will guide you unto all truth." (joh 16:12-13) "And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever." (joh 14:16) [this did not happen at Pentecost - see 'World Redeemer/Christian Fears and Concerns/No Other Name under Heaven'] (17:5) see

Scenario 4. Christ will come and be gone before people realize that He has come. Christ will come as a "Thief in the night.." (1th 5:24; 2pe 3:10; mat 24:42-44; rev 3:3;6:15) "Watch ye therefore and pray always the ye may be accounted worthy.." (luk 21-36) "Therefore you must also be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect." (mat 24:44) [the hour you least expect is in the past - it has already happened. Christ returned like a Thief in the night] (17:6) see
