Basis for Christian Belief: "For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive." (1co 15:22) [many Christians believe that all people inherited the sin of Adam and Eve, the "Original Sin", and only those who believe in Christ are forgiven of this inherited sin] (18:1) see Additionally: 1. The son shall not suffer for the iniquity of the father, nor the father for the iniquity of the son; the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself." There is no passage in the Bible that directly teaches such a doctrine. Paul related the sinful condition of the human race to the original transgression of Adam, insisting at the same time, however, that the result of sin (death) "spread to all people" not simply because of Adam's sin but "because all people sinned.(pg. 955)] (18:5) see 5.
