One group among the millennial scholars of the 1844 period was so certain that the "Glory of God" would appear on the side of Mount Carmel, as foretold by Isaiah, that they sold all they owned and sailed for the Holy Land. (39:8)

..Their home was in Germany, where they were known as Templars. They were disillusioned when (seemingly) Christ did not appear, as expected, between 1843 and 1845, so they abandoned their former life and settled at the foot of Mount Carmel to await the great day of His coming. (40:1)
