"Another proof and evidence of the truth of this (the Bab's) Revelation, which amongst all other proofs shineth as the sun, is the constancy of the eternal Beauty in proclaiming the Faith of God. Though young and tender of age, and though the Cause He revealed was contrary to the desire of all the peoples of earth, both high and low, rich and poor, exalted and abased, king and subject, yet He arose and steadfastly proclaimed it. All have known and heard this. He was afraid of no one; He was regardless of consequences. Could such a thing be made manifest except through the power of a divine Revelation, and the potency of God's invincible Will? (kiq 230) (103:4)

The Bab's quality of steadfastness during opposition testifies to the purity of His motives and that His purpose in enduring these trials was to bring us to God. Similarly, Peter writes: (105:1)

"For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for unjust, that He might bring us to God." (1 Pet 3:18) (105:2) see

In the writings of Baha'u'llah we repeatedly find the same motive mentioned: (105:3)

"We, verily, have come for your sakes, and have borne the misfortunes of the world for your salvation." (tbh 10) (105:4)

and: "My body hath endured imprisonment that ye may be released from the bondage of self." (tbh 12) (105:5)
