In the Baha'i writings the terms `Prophet' and `Manifestation' are often equated (e.g. kiq 4,6,12-15 etc). Prophet is frequently used in the Bible and is applied with varying degrees of meaning. In a narrow sense the term `Prophet' can be defined as simply one who speaks prophetically. This appears to be Paul's meaning when he ranks prophets below Apostles (1 cor 12:28). But the term has also traditionally meant much more than simply one who prophesies the future. (96:3) see The term `Prophet' is applied first in the Bible to Abraham (gen 20:7), but Moses is considered by many Christians to be the prototype of a Prophet of God.. Some of characteristics are:.. called directly by God (exo 3), taught the knowledge of God (exo 3:15), legislated to the people (deu 6:25), and possessed a prophetic awareness of history (exo 6). Such characteristics are generally typical of the Prophets who came after Moses, such as Isaiah, Jeremiah and Zechariah.
