The Chinese theory of "Ying" and "Yang" (the two opposites) asserts that when one reaches the maximum, the other automatically appears, confirming what has just been said. (33:4) It is particularly in the exaltation of mere materialistic goals, at once the source and the common trait of all these ideologies, that we return to the nourishing sources of that mendacious concept that regards human being as incorrigibly selfish and aggressive. We have to free ourselves from this idea if we want to build a new world fit for our descendants [16]. (33:5) The fact that, in the light of experience, materialistic ideals have failed to satisfy the needs of the human race, invites an honest recognition that we must make an attempt to find the solution to the tormented problems of the planet.
