Prophecies re him and his kingdom
the Holy Bible

I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth. (24:17)

Out of Jacob shall come he that shall have dominion, and shall destroy him that remaineth of the city. (24:19)

--2 Samuel--

And as since the time that I commanded judges [to be] over my people Israel, and have caused thee to rest from all thine enemies. Also the Lord telleth thee that he will make thee an house. (7:11)

And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom. (7:12)

He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever. (7:13)

I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men: (7:14)

But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took [it] from Saul, whom I put away before thee. (7:15)

And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever. (7:16)

--1 Chronicles--

Also I will ordain a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, and they shall dwell in their place, and shall be moved no more; neither shall the children of wickedness waste them any more, as at the beginning, (17:9)

And since the time that I commanded judges [to be] over my people Israel. Moreover I will subdue all thine enemies. Furthermore I tell thee that the Lord will build thee an house. (17:10)

And it shall come to pass, when thy days be expired that thou must go [to be] with thy fathers, that I will raise up thy seed after thee, which shall be of thy sons; and I will establish his kingdom. (17:11)

He shall build me an house, and I will stablish his throne for ever. (17:12)

I will be his father, and he shall be my son: and I will not take my mercy away from him, as I took [it] from [him] that was before thee: (17:13)

But I will settle him in mine house and in my kingdom for ever: and his throne shall be established for evermore. (17:14)

Then David said, This [is] the house of the Lord God, and this [is] the altar of the burnt offering for Israel. (22:1)

And David commanded to gather together the strangers that [were] in the land of Israel; and he set masons to hew wrought stones to build the house of God. (22:2)

And David prepared iron in abundance for the nails for the doors of the gates, and for the joinings; and brass in abundance without weight; (22:3)

Also cedar trees in abundance: for the Zidonians and they of Tyre brought much cedar wood to David. (22:4)

And David said, Solomon my son [is] young and tender, and the house [that is] to be builded for the Lord [must be] exceeding magnifical, of fame and of glory throughout all countries: I will [therefore] now make preparation for it. So David prepared abundantly before his death. (22:5)

Then he called for Solomon his son, and charged him to build an house for the Lord God of Israel. (22:6)

And David said to Solomon, My son, as for me, it was in my mind to build an house unto the name of the Lord my God: (22:7)

But the word of the Lord came to me, saying, Thou hast shed blood abundantly, and hast made great wars: thou shalt not build an house unto my name, because thou hast shed much blood upon the earth in my sight. (22:8)

Behold, a son shall be born to thee, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about: for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness unto Israel in his days. (22:9)

He shall build an house for my name; and he shall be my son, and I [will be] his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever. (22:10)

Now, my son, the Lord be with thee; and prosper thou, and build the house of the Lord thy God, as he hath said of thee. (22:11)

Only the Lord give thee wisdom and understanding, and give thee charge concerning Israel, that thou mayest keep the law of the Lord thy God. (22:12)

Then shalt thou prosper, if thou takest heed to fulfil the statutes and judgments which the Lord charged Moses with concerning Israel: be strong, and of good courage; dread not, nor be dismayed. (22:13)

Now, behold, in my trouble I have prepared for the house of the Lord an hundred thousand talents of gold, and a thousand thousand talents of silver; and of brass and iron without weight; for it is in abundance: timber also and stone have I prepared; and thou mayest add thereto. (22:14)

Moreover [there are] workmen with thee in abundance, hewers and workers of stone and timber, and all manner of cunning men for every manner of work. (22:15)

Of the gold, the silver, and the brass, and the iron, [there is] no number. Arise [therefore], and be doing, and the Lord be with thee. (22:16)

David also commanded all the princes of Israel to help Solomon his son, [saying], (22:17)

[Is] not the Lord your God with you? and hath he [not] given you rest on every side? for he hath given the inhabitants of the land into mine hand; and the land is subdued before the Lord, and before his people. (22:18)

Now set your heart and your soul to seek the Lord your God; arise therefore, and build ye the sanctuary of the Lord God, to bring the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and the holy vessels of God, into the house that is to be built to the name of the Lord. (22:19)

--2 Chronicles--

Since the day that I brought forth my people out of the land of Egypt I chose no city among all the tribes of Israel to build an house in, that my name might be there; neither chose I any man to be a ruler over my people Israel: (6:5)

But I have chosen Jerusalem, that my name might be there; and have chosen David to be over my people Israel. (6:6)

Now it was in the heart of David my father to build an house for the name of the Lord God of Israel. (6:7)

But the Lord said to David my father, Forasmuch as it was in thine heart to build an house for my name, thou didst well in that it was in thine heart: (6:8)

Notwithstanding thou shalt not build the house; but thy son which shall come forth out of thy loins, he shall build the house for my name. (6:9)

The Lord therefore hath performed his word that he hath spoken: for I am risen up in the room of David my father, and am set on the throne of Israel, as the Lord promised, and have built the house for the name of the Lord God of Israel. (6:10)

And in it have I put the ark, wherein [is] the covenant of the Lord, that he made with the children of Israel. (6:11)

And he stood before the altar of the Lord in the presence of all the congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands: (6:12)

For Solomon had made a brazen scaffold, of five cubits long, and five cubits broad, and three cubits high, and had set it in the midst of the court: and upon it he stood, and kneeled down upon his knees before all the congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward heaven, (6:13)

And said, O Lord God of Israel, [there is] no God like thee in the heaven, nor in the earth; which keepest covenant, and [showest] mercy unto thy servants, that walk before thee with all their hearts: (6:14)

Thou which hast kept with thy servant David my father that which thou hast promised him; and spakest with thy mouth, and hast fulfilled [it] with thine hand, as [it is] this day. (6:15)

Now therefore, O Lord God of Israel, keep with thy servant David my father that which thou hast promised him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight to sit upon the throne of Israel; yet so that thy children take heed to their way to walk in my law, as thou hast walked before me. (6:16)

Now then, O Lord God of Israel, let thy word be verified, which thou hast spoken unto thy servant David. (6:17)

Ought ye not to know that the Lord God of Israel gave the kingdom over Israel to David for ever, [even] to him and to his sons by a covenant of salt? (13:5)

Howbeit the Lord would not destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and as he promised to give a light to him and to his sons for ever. (21:7)

Then thou spakest in vision to thy holy one, and saidst, I have laid help upon one that is mighty; I have exalted one chosen out of the people (89:19)

I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him (89:20)

With whom my hand shall be established: mine arm also shall strengthen him (89:21)

The enemy shall not exact upon him; nor the son of wickedness afflict him (89:22)

And I will beat down his foes before his face, and plague them that hate him (89:23)

But my faithfulness and my mercy shall be with him: and in my name shall his horn be exalted (89:24)

I will set his hand also in the sea, and his right hand in the rivers (89:25)

He shall cry unto me, Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my salvation (89:26)

Also I will make him my firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth (89:27)

My mercy will I keep for him for evermore, and my covenant shall stand fast with him (89:28)

His seed also will I make to endure for ever, and his throne as the days of heaven (89:29)

If his children forsake my law, and walk not in my judgments (89:30)

If they break my statutes, and keep not my commandments (89:31)

Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes (89:32)

Nevertheless my lovingkindness will I not utterly take from him, nor suffer my faithfulness to fail (89:33)

My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips (89:34)

Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie unto David (89:35)

His seed shall endure for ever, and his throne as the sun before me (89:36)

It shall be established for ever as the moon, and as a faithful witness in heaven. Selah (89:37)

Of the increase of [his] government and peace [there shall be] no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.^31,32 (9:7)

And in mercy shall the throne be established: and he shall sit upon it in truth in the tabernacle of David, judging, and seeking judgment, and hasting righteousness. (16:5)

And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will call my servant Eliakim the son of Hilkiah: (22:20)

And I will clothe him with thy robe, and strengthen him with thy girdle, and I will commit thy government into his hand: and he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to the house of Judah. (22:21)

And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; so he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open. (22:22)

And I will fasten him [as] a nail in a sure place; and he shall be for a glorious throne to his father's house. (22:23)

And they shall hang upon him all the glory of his father's house, the offspring and the issue, all vessels of small quantity, from the vessels of cups, even to all the vessels of flagons. (22:24)

In that day, saith the Lord of hosts, shall the nail that is fastened in the sure place be removed, and be cut down, and fall; and the burden that [was] upon it shall be cut off: for the Lord hath spoken [it]. (22:25)

Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. (23:5)

In those days, and at that time, will I cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land. (33:15)

In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely: and this [is the name] wherewith she shall be called, The Lord our righteousness. (33:16)

For thus saith the Lord; David shall never want a man to sit upon the throne of the house of Israel; (33:17)

Neither shall the priests the Levites want a man before me to offer burnt offerings, and to kindle meat offerings, and to do sacrifice continually. (33:18)

And the word of the Lord came unto Jeremiah, saying, (33:19)

Thus saith the Lord; If ye can break my covenant of the day, and my covenant of the night, and that there should not be day and night in their season; (33:20)

[Then] may also my covenant be broken with David my servant, that he should not have a son to reign upon his throne; and with the Levites the priests, my ministers. (33:21)

As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, neither the sand of the sea measured: so will I multiply the seed of David my servant, and the Levites that minister unto me. (33:22)

Moreover the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying, (33:23)

Considerest thou not what this people have spoken, saying, The two families which the Lord hath chosen, he hath even cast them off? thus they have despised my people, that they should be no more a nation before them. (33:24)

Thus saith the Lord; If my covenant [be] not with day and night, [and if] I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth; (33:25)

Then will I cast away the seed of Jacob, and David my servant, [so] that I will not take [any] of his seed [to be] rulers over the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: for I will cause their captivity to return, and have mercy on them. (33:26)

He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: (1:32)

And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. (1:33)
