--Job-- But ye [are] forgers of lies, ye [are] all physicians of no value. (13:4) O that ye would altogether hold your peace! and it should be your wisdom. (13:5) Hear now my reasoning, and hearken to the pleadings of my lips. (13:6) Will ye speak wickedly for God? and talk deceitfully for him? (13:7) Will ye accept his person? will ye contend for God? (13:8) Is it good that he should search you out? or as one man mocketh another, do ye [so] mock him? (13:9) He will surely reprove you, if ye do secretly accept persons. (13:10) Shall not his excellency make you afraid? and his dread fall upon you? (13:11) Your remembrances [are] like unto ashes, your bodies to bodies of clay. (13:12) Hold your peace, let me alone, that I may speak, and let come on me what [will]. (13:13) Then Job answered and said, (16:1) I have heard many such things: miserable comforters [are] ye all. (16:2) Shall vain words have an end? or what emboldeneth thee that thou answerest? (16:3) I also could speak as ye [do]: if your soul were in my soul's stead, I could heap up words against you, and shake mine head at you. (16:4) [Are there] not mockers with me? and doth not mine eye continue in their provocation? (17:2) Then Job answered and said, (19:1) How long will ye vex my soul, and break me in pieces with words? (19:2) These ten times have ye reproached me: ye are not ashamed [that] ye make yourselves strange to me. (19:3) And be it indeed [that] I have erred, mine error remaineth with myself. (19:4) If indeed ye will magnify [yourselves] against me, and plead against me my reproach: (19:5) But now [they that are] younger than I have me in derision, whose fathers I would have disdained to have set with the dogs of my flock. (30:1) Yea, whereto [might] the strength of their hands [profit] me, in whom old age was perished? (30:2) For want and famine [they were] solitary; fleeing into the wilderness in former time desolate and waste. (30:3) Who cut up mallows by the bushes, and juniper roots [for] their meat. (30:4) They were driven forth from among [men], (they cried after them as [after] a thief;) (30:5) To dwell in the cliffs of the valleys, [in] caves of the earth, and [in] the rocks. (30:6) Among the bushes they brayed; under the nettles they were gathered together. (30:7) [They were] children of fools, yea, children of base men: they were viler than the earth. (30:8) And now am I their song, yea, I am their byword. (30:9) They abhor me, they flee far from me, and spare not to spit in my face. (30:10) |
