--Matthew-- But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues; (10:17) And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles. (10:18) But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. (10:19) For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you. (10:20) And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against [their] parents, and cause them to be put to death. (10:21) And ye shall be hated of all [men] for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved. (10:22) And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? (19:16) And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? [there is] none good but one, [that is], God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. (19:17) He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, (19:18) Honour thy father and [thy] mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. (19:19) The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet? (19:20) Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go [and] sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come [and] follow me. (19:21) But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions. (19:22) --Luke-- And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? (18:18) And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none [is] good, save one, [that is], God. (18:19) Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother. (18:20) And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up. (18:21) Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me. (18:22) And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich. (18:23) And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God! (18:24) |
